Astigmatism disappeared or Is Prescription Wrong?

Hiya. I got a new prescription and new glasses at LensCrafter this week. When I got the new glasses, the left eye was blurry, especially for reading. They remade the lens, but the eye was still blurry, so I returned them.

When I got home, I noticed that the new prescription that they used has no correction for astigmatism. But my old prescription had +0.50 at axis 105. Is it likely that the new prescription is in error, or is it more likely that the astigmatism disappeared?

Astigmatism is really the shape of your eye, so it is very possible for the astigmatism to disappear.

Are you having trouble seeing far away as well? Because if its just your near/pc work that your having a problem with it could mean that you either need bifocals, or that your bifocal is not strong enough.

Do you wear progressives? Because it could be that the lens is not made properly or adjusted properly and its making you look out of the incorret area of the progressive.

We are living breathing animals and yes it is possible for our prescription to change a little bit...or in your case have your astigmatism "go away." If your Rx for glasses was checked every day we would come up with slightly different answers each day.

Some times during refraction (the test for your prescription) people concentrate too hard or their eyes are dry or its just to hard to tell the difference between one and two and the Rx can be off a little bit. This is no one's fault really...its what I call a "bad day" for your eyes.

I would call the office back and as to have your Rx checked again...if they find the same Rx this time around then I suggest that you just try and relax into the new Rx...sometimes it can take up to 2 weeks...for the really sensitive soul even 3 to fully adjust.

The prescription is wrong. it is not possible to just disappear

I would personally get it rechecked but Alfred is way off about the impossiblity of having astigmatism just disappear...

I had astigmatism for years then about a year ago during my eye exam the doctor said my astigmatism was gone... I had it rechecked again and the other doctor said I dont have astigmatism either...

So it IS possible but check out the doctor again!

1.Sometimes slight change in astigmatic power may happen.I don't think it is an error.

2. Are you quite happy with your latest presciption?

3.If you are then nothing else is needed to be done.
