Can you wear a contact for astigmatism in an eye that doesn't need it? |
Another question about my eye problems. As I mentioned in a previous question, I have astigmatism in my right eye and my doctor won't help me in correcting it. I'm calling him tomorrow and demanding he do something about it. My question this time is this: Does anyone know if you can wear an astigmatism contact in an eye that doesn't need it? This would be my left (since he said I don't have an astigmatism in my left eye). Can I wear one regular in my left and one astigmatism in my right? Or can I just wear astigmatism contacts in both eyes even though my left doesn't need it? I wore contacts for astigmatism growing up in both eyes (from my previous doctor--the one that died) because he said I had it in both eyes. My doctor now says it's only my right eye and that I never had one in my left. I'm so messed up right now............Any help or info? Anyone have only one astigmatism like me? Why did my previous doctor tell me I have it in both eyes and my new doctor says one? you can get two different contacts, i dont have an astigmatism but i do have two different perscriptions in each eye. What they do is they can order you one box of contacts for your eye without the astigmatism and, one for the eye that dose. I dont know Why their giving you such a hassel, because its pretty much simple. Hope i helped!!! It could be that you do have it in both eyes, but to a lesser degree in the left. If you have no more than 3/4 of a unit of astigmatism, contacts such as Acuview can help it (even though they were not designed to do so). If you use daily wear or extended wear contacts that do not treat astigmatism, some doctors will fudge it by giving you a stronger spherical prescription to make up for the lack of a cylindrical prescription. |
