Astigmatism, but how can this be?

If you are born with astigmatism in your eyes, then how all of a sudden i start experiencing symptoms @ 22. I mean you are born with it right? but it can pop up at any time?
If I don't wear glasses, may it get worse?
Thank you

You aren't always born with it. I didn't always have it and now I do at 25. Yes it can get worse but don't freak out, it's not that big of a deal. You may just need glasses or contacts later on. It's just that the shape of your lens or retina or something in your eye isn't perfectly spherical.

I am 21 and I have an astigmatism in both of my eyes, I have to wear glasses because it makes me near sighted( I cant see things far away) You need to make an appointment with an opthamologist and see whats up. You may need glasses. If you dont want glasses, you could always opt for contacts.

possible

yes... you ARE born with it ...

but with growth your eyeballs grow too .. so your astigmatism goes away ...

sometimes the eyes grow too much leading to myopia (difficulty in seeing far objects) or grow too less leading to hypermetropia (difficulty in seeing near objects)
