I have astigmatism - do i absolutely NEED to wear toric lenses?

I have an astigmatism of -1.25 in one eye, and -1.75 in the other eye. Do i HAVE to wear torics? If i didn't, would my vision be blurred?

Your options are either hard lenses, glasses, or soft lenses with TORIC. Basically, Astigmatism is an irregularly shaped lens (where as nearsighted or farsightedness is an irregularly shaped eyeball.)

You need the TORIC lenses to help refract the light correctly to your lens, something regular contacts can only do up to a certain point.

Your other option is refractive surgery (LASIK) and you would need to speak with your ophthalmologist about this.

Yes you have to us them because your eyes are oval instead of round. And yes your vision will be blurred. They take some time getting used to because they like to shift and that can be a little troubling sometimes.

No, you do not need to wear astigmatic lenses, but the acuity will be sharper with them vs. standard spherical lenses. Toric lenses are weighted to sit a certain way on your eye.

Good luck, and I hope this helps! :)
