Are there bifocal contact lenses for astigmatism? |
I have astigmatism and normally wear Toric lenses with readers on top. I also have varifocal glasses. I want to wear contact with no readers. I have some ordinary bi-focal lenses, but although good, my vision is a bit blurry due to the astigmatism. Unfortunately there are no bifocal contact lenses for astigmatism yet. The best solution is exactly what you have...toric lenses (for astigmatism) with reading glasses on top. There are contact lenses for astigmatism, I used to wear one and it worked fine. It was a 3-monthly one, monthly ones were not available at that time. Ask your optician for details. http://www.allaboutvision.com/contacts/b... As far as I no (or what I have been told) contact lenses cannot correct astigmatism, but are shaped differently to accomodate for the alternate shape of the cornea. I have these for my astigmatism and they are disposable. I have a similar problem, althogh I could not wear soft disposable lenses, my optician gave me slightly different prescription for each eye, sounds daft but it worked a treat, even with large astigmatism. Disposable soft contact lenses are available for correcting astigmatism and for correcting reading vision but sadly not both. |
