I need help with my astigmatism situation! Please help!?

I have developed a quite strong astigmatism over the years. Recently, it has become so strong that I have a hard time fitting in the contact lenses that optometrist prescribe for me. The lenses are quite uncomfortable and give me a headache. Mind you that I have been to a number of doctors over the last couple years and I have had the same problem. I am currently wearing glasses, which I cannot stand. I am thinking about having laser eye surgery done since my sister also has an astigmatism and knows a doctor that worked miracles with her. Please help me...I would rather just wear contact lenses that work for me! I live in Temecula, California...so any great optometrist referrals would be great!

With a high astigmatism it is very difficult to fit contact lenses. You may talk to your doctor about RGP contact lenses (the small hard ones) they are a little difficult to get used to, but once people get used to them, they never go back! With astigmatism it is trial and error to find the correct prescription and the most comfortable type of lenses.
I hope you get this figured out! Best of luck!

Since it sounds like you will not be comfortable with the contacts you may want to get the surgery like your sister. Since I have no way of knowing who provides your vision insurance if you even have insurance I recommend getting a referral for a surgeon from your regular optometrist.
Good luck!
