I have just got a new pair of prescription glasses....?

My lenses are high index. however, my left lense seems to be thicker than my right lense. I know i ordered them high index and obiously they are supposed to be high index on both sides.....then why is one lense thicker on the edges than the other? i have astigmatism by the way

Three possibilities ...

1) The prescription for your left lens is stronger than the one for your right lens.

2) The degree of astigmatism isn't the same in both eyes, so the lenses aren't both the same shape.

3) Your right eye isn't correctable to 20/20, so there's no point in making the Rx for the right lens as strong as for the left lens (related to #1 above).

hi i have a stigmatism and i remember my optician saying one lense will be thicker than the other one due the the stigmatism as it is trying to correct the shape of your iris hope this is right and helps

The reason for this that 1 eye needs a stronger lens than the other , i know because i also wear glasses and have 1 lens stronger than the other.

the astigmatism is prob in your left eye, and if that is the thicker lens it should only be thick on the one edge(temple, nasal,up or down) depending on how your eye needs correcting, if you ordered hi index its virtually imposs for them not to both be hi index, unless power wrong in 1 eye, then your optician has mixed them up!!!!!!!!!

more Rx = thicker lens

if the two eyes are not the same Rx as each other, then one is definitely going to be thicker.
