Understand opticians prescriptions?

Can you explain my prescription to me?

It says Right eye: sph -050 Cyl -125 Axis 175
Left eye : sph-025 Cyl - 125 Axis 177.5

I have astigmatism but which eye is the strongest/weakest?

Thanks

Astigmatism, in your case means you are more short sighted in one direction than another. The amount on astigmatism is the "cyl" part of your prescription ie -1.25 dioptres of astigmatism in each eye.

The axis is the position of the astigmatism. 180 is horizontal, so the axis of each eye is close to horizontal.

The first part, the "sph" (sphere) is the shortsightedness, so the right eye -0.50 is slightly more shortsighted than the left eye -0.25. We go up in 0.25 dioptre steps.

right eye strongest...left weakest by half

we have two main types of refractive errors.myopia:corrected by minus lenses and hypermetropia:corrected by plus lenses( both spherical)
Astigmatism is developed if the cornea is not uniformally shaped but its dimensoins are disturbed somewhere. This produces astigmatism.and you are said to have either astigmatic myopia or astigmatic hypermetropia.
You are having a very small amount of myopia and astigmatism both.-0.25 and -0.50 are the least in myopic spheres.your right eye number is more by just -0.25D
