What are some options for curing hereditary amblyopia?

I might take any answer. If possible, I would like something that I could do/ take/ have for only a short time so that I could have really good vision before I try to get my driver's license in only a couple of years. No offense but one thing that will be turned as an option would be an eyepatch of any form. That may work for me, but I would still carry the gene that causes amblyopia. Also the more affordable the better. By the way, what is astigmatism? About three years ago, I, for some reason, became a bit nearsighted in the non-amblyopiatic eye. Things used to be clear in that eye. Now I can see a few feet in front of me before things slightly blur. I don't know what to do.

First the astigmatism. It is a refractive error that can be corrected by cylindrical glasses unlike the other errors that are corrected by spherical glasses.
You seem to be having myopia in one eye that could be corrected by glasses/ contacts.

Good luck!
