Is this a serious problem? |
About 4 or 5 days ago, I felt like I had a cold. After that, my symptoms didn't go away and I instead started getting sinus headaches. My nose felt stuffy, even though it wasn't and I could still breathe through it. My chest was (and still is) tight and once in a while a dull pain would pop up there. I have post nasal drip, and I've had a relatively dry cough, with a tiny bit of stuff coming up every once in a while, but it's so small an amount and so infrequent that I just refer to it as a dry cough. During the day, I feel OK. At night, and as soon as I wake up, it's all back again. My vision gets a little bit cloudy, but I do have an astigmatism that I'm not treating very nicely, so that might have something to do with that. As far as "mental" and "personality" differences, I'm more forgetful, but I attributed it to my preoccupation with feeling like I had a balloon for a head. I no longer have the headaches, and now my nose is runny. Everything else is the same. Any thoughts? The symptoms that you are describing sound like a sinus infection. Do you have any mild light dizziness or feeling of 'spacing out'. If so than you definitely have an infection. Take your thumbs and press gentely but firmly on the area directly above your eyebrow, now repeat the manuever just below your eyes mid pupil line. If you felt discomfort or pain. Than you have a sinus infection and need to go see a doctor to possibly get a prescribtion for antibiotics. I hope that you feel better soon. Good luck. Did you try nyquil or dayquil, sounds like you have a cold. I have been feeling exactly like you for the past two weeks. I went to the doctor and he gave me antibiotics, but I still feel slightly sick. I'll tell you my take. I work in an office building and when a cold/flu virus circulates, pretty much everyone in the office gets it. Anyhow, I'll make a long story short in saying that the virus this year is insanely stronger than years past. Literally everyone I know in the building has come down with these same symptoms. The key is to take plenty of vitamin C, drink tons of fluids, and get a good amount of rest. It's a lingering virus, but it will surely and slowly go away.......... Well if you don't have the pain from pressing on your sinus's I would get checked out. Prolly need a sample of stuff you cough up. You might have a virus or a pneumonia. Surprise the respiratory therapist didn't think of this. If what you are coughing up is brown or rust color see a doctor fast. But it could be a sinus infection which the best to do it get rest and plenty of fluids. It has been shown antibiotics don't really help, its more the bodies natural immunes system. |
