Couple of questions about contact lenses?

Hi all, I am thinking about getting acuve advanced contacts for astigmatism:

1. How many hours a day can I wear them? Is 15 hours a day too much?

2. Can I take a short 5-25 minute nap with them? I take the train home after work and ALWAYS fall asleep as least for 5 minutes. Will this be okay or will it cause problems?

3. I am using a computer most of the day. Will this be harder on my eyes than it is with glasses?

I've been wearing contact lenses for 19 years now.
15 hours is a normal day. I regularly wear mine that much. If you take a nap in them or stare at the computer without blinking often, they can dry out, but some saline drops fix that.

1. 15 hours isn't too long. As long as they soak in a saline solution for about an hour or more to disinfect. Also, rest your eyes after that 15 hours.

2. YES you can take a nap. Depending on different people, your eyes might dry out. Mine don't. I've taken hour long naps and my eyes feel ok. It depends on you. If your eyes feel a little beat then it probably isn't ok. Take a nap in them only if you have to and can't put them anywhere else, because contacts can roll around your socket when you are asleep. contacts are attracted by moisture and if your eyes are closed it's moist everywhere. I've woken up once and my contact was not where it should be, up halfway across my iris.

3. Treat computer time the same you would treat your regular eyes. Look away from your computer often to have your eyes focus on a different distance. It's an eye exercise.

1. It depends on whether you can stand them that long. Some people can wear them that long with no problems. It would be important that you remove them as soon as you get home though, to allow your corneas to relax and get more air for at least an hour before going to bed. If you start getting itchy or red eyes by 15 hours, then you will know it is too long for you.

2. A short nap of 10 - 15 minutes usually isn't a problem, but you may want to carry refreshing drops with you, because they may start drying out after 15 minutes or so. It is NEVER a good idea to sleep with contacts, but a short nap usually isn't a problem.

3. You will most likely find it more tiring on a computer all day with contacts, mainly because we tend to stare more, and not blink enough to keep the lenses moist. Again, with refreshing drops made to use with contacts, it may work for you...but only trying it yourself will give you the answer.

No, u can wear the lenses to sleep. Ur given information determines that u r suitable for silicone range of contacts. A few good ones r: Purevision, nite and day, o2 optix, biofinity.
