I think I have a mild ulceritive colitis.. Any natural cures? Im poor, no money doctor..?

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY SO THAT YOU CAN GET MY PATTERN..

I consulted with 2-3 doctors before.. the other 2 wasnt helpful or had no clue.. The 3rd one told me to cut back on coffee and softdrinks.

So far, my only symptoms are the soreness of my rectum and I think its a little inflamed.

It got sore really more just a month back, that I got desperate and decided to try fish oil. I also cut back on coffee, ice tea, and dairy products.

The fishoil I think caused me to have stomach cramps and diahrea, and my stool gotten really hard.. just as the end part. so bowel movement was hard until I got the "cap" out.. everything else is soft. Anyways I stopped taking fish oil.

So far, my soreness stopped about 90% and i dont feel bad nowadays.. so im not sure what fixed it.. the fishoil or the diet cut backs.

Lately.. I noticed my eye is sensitive to light.. which is also a symptom of UC, but then I have astigmatism so i dnt knw..

My stool also have mucus like stuff at the very tip.

Help?

thanks for the suggestions..

I find it particularly tough skipping coffee.. AAARRGGHH!! hehe

anyways, my food intake use to be:
oatmeal, peanut butter sandwich (use to be anchor butter sandwich), rice, noodles, chicken, pork, beef, fish, veggies, pineapple juice, orange juice..

er, thats about it.. (i think)

I stopped on softdrinks, coffee, and dairy products.. including sustagen.

What does your diet consist of? What are you eating/drinking daily, how often and how much?

How often are you having bm? Should be minimum 3 times per day-if not that is why you have a "cap".

Ok. Good start cutting out the caffeine, dairy, and sugars(soft drinks). I don't think fish oil would be the cause of your gastric distress. Fish oil is a great immune system booster and has many beneficial effects. I don't see any water on your list. You should be drinking a gallon of water per day. Watch the starch intake. Starches are "sticky" in the gut and have a binding effect. Also beef and pork digest slower as well. Increase your vegetables, eat more fish and chicken.

As for supplementation, add a multi-mineral vitamin and C(1,000mg) to every meal. E is good too(work up gradually to that 800mg using 200mg increments over a two week period), but the mineral and C are the most important. C will help loosen your bowels. I recommend Alacer's Emergen-C. It also has a lot of B vitamins which will help boost your energy much more effectively than caffeine. I use it every day and haven't had caffeine on a regular basis in years.

I think it was the diet changes...the closer you get to vegetarian...the better your health...I would also consider taking 800mg Vit. E every day...and drinking more water. Stay away from soda and caffeine drinks and perhaps dairy if you can handle doing that as well.

I don't know much about ulcerative colitis. I have crohn's but they do the same for both. May I suggest a site for you: www.crohnszone.org. They can help you there.

good luck
