Regular contacts bother my eyes alot, what can i do? |
I tried contacts for the first time a week ago and I love them but they really irritate my eyes, they are sore, dry and feel like they have an eyelash in them. I've cleaned my contacts and there's nothing in them! I have ACUTE ASTIGMATISMS in both eyes, apparently for a few years, but my opth. NEVER TOLD ME UNTIL TODAY... he says it's not bad enough that I need special contacts, but these regular ones (acuvue advance) really IRRITATE MY EYES. I want to keep wearing contacts, does anyone have ANY SUGGESTIONS? Thank you so much in advance to anyone willing to HELP ME!!! ^_^ You need to contact the doc that dispensed the contacts and let them know that you are having irritation and problems with them. The doc can't know that you are having problems unelss you call him/her and tell him. Update the doc and see what he recommends to correct the problem. Unfortunately, you may be one that is just unable to wear contacts for whatever reason. Have you talked to your doc about this particular problem? Many times just switching the brand of the lense can help. Also, I just started wearing the Advance, and it did seem almost "thicker" at first than the acuvue II that I used to wear. Perhaps just swithching models might help. Something else to check is whether you're allergic to the solution you're using. Try switching brands. i have astigmatisms and with my contacts i do not correct for this problem b/c those contacts bother my eyes. funny enough, after a few years of this, one of my eyes has corrected itself. but also, i have tried many brands and only one brand seems to work well with my bodies chemicals...hopefully one of these suggestions will help!! i know your pain!! Well it sounds like they are either drying out or not fitting properly. I would try using clerz plus or blink-n-clean to see if they help with this feeling. If they are not helping have your doctor recheck the fit and maybe fit you with something else I've been wearing contacts for a very, very long time. In fact I started out in junior high in the late 70s when they only had hard ones (imagine a solid disk!). |
