Lazer Eye Surgery?

I'm thinking about getting Lazer Eye Surgery soon.
Have you, or someone you know had this surgery?
Is is true they can only correct one or the other...reading or distance?
Can people with slight astigmatisms have lazik?
Can you give me an aprox. price range?

Any info would be great?

$4700? Wow that is high. I just got done pricing them and it said up to $2000 at the most. Maybe it's cheaper here. But i can't wait, either way.

yeah, my mom just had this surgery and she did have an astigmatisim. They gave my mom one eye for distance and the other for close up. She only needs glasses at night when driving to decrease the light halos she sees from the headlights. She absolutely loves her new eyes and is recommending it to everyone she knows! I'm probably going to get it done soon as well. It cost my mom around 4,700 dollars. It took like one minute or less to do each eye. The only thing she has now that is bothersome, is dry eyes, which with time is supposed to diminish. So far so good. Good luck!

Prices will depend on your area, the technology used and sometimes the center. Corporations tend to be less expensive because they offer package pricing whereas a private dr may charge more but really you want to go forth with a great doc with lots of experience and newer technology.
If you are over 40 than you will either need to wear reading glasses after surgery ( sooner or later anyway) If you did not want to wear them then you can have one eye for reading and one eye done for distance. Its called monovision. You can ask to trial mono contacts to see if you like it, some people adapt to it well while others don't and eventually have the surgery again to change it. With mono you will not have perfect near or perfect distance so you do have to take that sacrifice for not wearing readers. It depends on what you do more often and as far as your work and hobbies go. ( Obviously if you were a driver I would say go for the distance. If you were a teacher than I'd say go with mono so you don't have to keep taking off those readers to see far but put them back on when your reading. )
Yes lasik will correct astigmatism. It all depends on your entire prescription and your corneal thickness. Make sure you research more than one place, and don't necessarily go with the cheapest place. Good Luck to you!

Laser eye surgery can correct astigmatism and both shortsightedness and farsightedness. Surgery doesn't take long to perform and you can go home right after the surgery with clear eyesight if everything goes well. Before you make your final decision, there are some reasons why laser eye surgery is not such a good idea:

- it's very expensive
- you may not be a good candidate
- treats symptom, not the cause, so your eyesight can still get worse after surgery and it won't reduce/eliminate the risk of retinal detachment in people with severe myopia.
- it's irreversible, so there is no going back
- there are some serious risks and possible complications that can lead to blindness, no matter how good your operating doctor is.

Besides laser eye surgery, there is another way to improve your vision called natural vision correction and it's completely safe. It consists of various eye exercises and techniques that can improve your eyesight. They do work despite what others say, but require persistence. Just practice them every day and you will notice improvements quickly.

I was able to improve my own vision with eye exercises.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
