Can you get scabbies from a source other than human contact, such as woods and animals?

My mom has been struggling wiht scabbies reinestation. She has done everything there is to do as far as treating her home and pets etc.. she thinks she could be getting reinfected from her dog even though she has treated the dog several times. She also works in an assisted living environment which is where I believe she contracted it to begin with. I need to prove to her she is getting this at work or somewhere else besides her dog or wooded surrounding. Please help me help her.

You can get scabies from person to person contact, infected bedding, towels etc. Seems to me that she needs to check into some kind of bomb that would kill them, like the flea bombs. When I worked in a nursing home we would use kw ell lotion on all patients, and they would sleep on same linens till morning, then shower everyone, and wash all linens, and usually didnt have reinfestation. We also sprayed the chairs and couches, especially cloth ones. Are you sure they are scabies and not fleas? Scabies have a distinct pattern on the skin cause they burrow under the skin.

what is scabbies?
