No it is not a steroid. You need a prescription for anabolic steroids (or you can get them illegally).

Protein whey just helps you to add bulk to your body. It is a great way to gain weight when included with an exercise plan. (Ingesting it ALONE won't get you muscle) You can buy it anywhere - even grocery stores. GNC is not licensed to sell anabolic steroids.
