Must amputees take phisical therapy or phisiotherapy after amputation? why? I f you want to use a prosthesis (an artificial limb) you must get proper exercises for the stump. If you do not the prosthesis will not fit properly. The decision is up to you. You never really have to do anything but, there are sometihings that is better for you to do and this is one of them. She is absolutely correct. It benefits emotionally, also. You are with a group of people who deal with amputees on a daily basis. They treat you like a human being who just needs to do something a bit differently to cope. They balance the OMG! crowd that pities you. My opinion. I think he needs to see his doctor. It could be the phantom pain or it could be a blood clot or some silly but serious thing. Everyone I know who is a double below knee amputee walks again. You still have your knees it's going to be easier you won't have to use as much energy. You'll be walking and running ... when i was in the hospital after my motorcycle accident, my nurses wanted to put up all my rails and i told them not to as i am clostphobia and i would be ok with only the upper body rails and they... If you are talking a human leg replacement - that is still very experimental. Only being tried in certain european countries.
