Any of you amputees out there ever have a "phantom pain " in your missing limb?

I read a really fascinating book about phantom pains and phantom limbs called "Phantoms in the Brain" written by V. S. Ramachandran and Sandra Blakeslee. V. S. is an M.D. and Ph. D, a specialist in cognitive neuroscience. He talks about the development of phantom limbs and even some ways he has had success in helping some of his patients eliminate phantom pain. You may wish to get a copy of this book, or look for other information about V. S. and his research.

My friend lost his arm above the elbow- and his hand itches all the time. It drives him nuts....weird cuz his hand isn't there:)

I myself didn't. But when my grandmother had to have her leg amputated, she had "pain" constantly where the limb used to be.
