If I am legally married, is my spouse partially responsible for my medical and mental care? |
I am an amputee and just recently had my only leg reconstructed.....my husband refuses to divorce me, but will also not provide me with any funding for medicial care....is he legally obligated to do so? you might need to see a lawyer for this one. YES Divorce only takes 1 person making the decision. SO whether or not he WANTS to is immaterial - you just do it. Get a new attorney!!!! I would expect it depends on your State laws, but in the state where I live it is community property and that includes bills. In most states assetts and debts are community property. You each own half of everything and each are responsible for the debts incurred. If you incur a medical debt he can be made to pay towards it. Ask a local legal help agency. As for making him fork out money to take you to a Doc or clinic? You probably can't force him to spend money he chooses not to. Sounds like a tough choice to make. You can always divorce him. You don't have to make him do it. seriously? That's so depressing, I would think if he put you on his insurance then he'd have to! Good luck YES... as long as you are married... he is responsible for 50% of all expenses... and if you consult a lawyer or Legal Aid Society in your town... to get legal advice... he may be responsible for all of your medical and health costs seeing that you are disabled. It would pay for you to check the Yellow Pages for Attorney... and look up the Legal Aid Society and call them... they will give you advice as to your next step... Good Luck! If you are married I believe he is just as responsible for your debts as you are his. I would see a lawyer or check the Internet for more advice. I think there is a site called cafelaw where you can check. Your husband is abusing you. This is called medical abuse. A quick way to get help is through adult protective services in your jurisdiction. Through services in your community geared toward spousal abuse, you might be able to obtain help with legal representation. If you want employment and need to have your medical care to pursue or keep employment, you might want to get services from your local vocational rehabilitation program. Good luck to you. |

If you do not the prosthesis will not fit properly. The decision is up to you. You never really ... My opinion. I think he needs to see his doctor. It could be the phantom pain or it could be a blood clot or some silly but serious thing. Good Luck. ...I am sorry you lost your leg........now i'm sort of scared b/c i may be having to have knee surgery and i DO have to have a total hip replacement???????????????? ...although your fingers are gone, the nerves in yoyr am are still there and donn't know the fingers are not there, my dad had this when he lost his leg, pain killers and massage are what he did,... The reason for phantom pain is that we actually "feel" with the brain, not the body part. This is a hard concept for people to grasp, but without a link to the brain, there is no "fe...
