Is there a link with epilepsy and amphetamines?

Not that I know of, nor that I could find in my research. My advice would be that if you have Epilepsy, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medication.

I discovered there are 2 classifications for Epilepsy.

1. Is the genetic form of it.

In this case, test results show most all members of the family have the gene that causes Epilepsy, yet the gene lies dormant and everyone is completely unaware they even carry the gene. For reasons yet unknown to doctors, in some people that dormant gene suddenly wakes resulting in that person developing Epilepsy.

2. Is the illness to the brain form.

Developmental Abnormalities:
damage occurring during the formation of a child's brain (the brain is formed during the 1st 3 months of the pregnancy)

Trauma To The Skull:
such as a depressed skull fracture where the brain tissue has been partly damaged, or a gun shot wound to the head

Blood Clots and Hemorrhages in the Brain

Encephalitis

Alcohol Abuse

None that I've ever heard of. The use of amphetamines can cause seizures but this doesn't mean the person has epilepsy. Also, someone with epilepsy shouldn't use amphetamines or take any type of stimulant since this can cause more seizure activity.
