Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride?

I failed a drug test for meth-amphetamine. I don't do drugs, so I was wondering if pseudoephedrine hydrochloride contained some type of ingredient to cause this. I took Sudafed 12 hour sinus relief.

yes it could of caused a positive result-- this is one of the chemicals used to make meth. it should be out of your system in 3 to 5 days-- ask for another test

I am not exactly sure about Meth but I do know a fun fact eating anything with poppy seads (even a bagel) can set off a heroine or opium test. Mythbusters tried it. So it is quite possible. If you want to be extra sure try fasting through the night and taking the test again hopefully that will (although I am not positive) clear out any possible triggers in your system.

And I have heard that some medical drugs (like sudafed) can set off drug tests as most tests are either a yes there are drugs or no there are no drugs there is not like a scale like there is with alcohol.

Sudafed is used in the production of methamphetamine, and all I really know about it is the active ingredient in Sudafed is one of the main components of the illegal drug. Things are so bad where I live that Sudafed, as well as other name brands with the same active ingredient and all generic store brands, are generally kept behind the counters in pharmacies, you are limited to buying two boxes at a time, and you have to show ID to purchase it.

If I am not mistaken, most medicines like that have a pretty short half-life, meaning they stay in your blood for a very short period of time. You might tell whoever administered or requested the test that you were taking Sudafed, and ask them if you can retest again when you have not had any for a while. Just to be safe, I would refrain from taking it for 7 days, so all traces are removed from your system (naturally, that won't work if they do a hair test, but they cannot have done a hair test this time, or they would know that you are not a habitual user!). If you have ongoing sinus problems, and you need to keep taking something, you might try another medicine. I have to take Benadryl every day for my allergies, and I know many other people who take a daily OTC med for allergies or sinus problems. Just do talk to the testing people, as I am sure they see this quite often.

yes - to make meth they use pseudenepherine. Many states now make you show ID and sign for it when you buy it at the pharmacy. In my state, it is not something you can buy from the shelf - it's kept locked up by pharmacist - yoU ARE LIMIted to buying it 4xs a year because it is the main ingredient used is Meth labs. Hope you listed that prior to the dt when they ask you to list all meds taking. many places will not allow a dt retake.

I cant take pseudoephedrine. Like heaps of others it keeps me up all nite. That's why they use it in speed. I have found an alternative medicine which I now swear by.
