Regarding response from rn? |
I know that respiratory distress has a very small likelihood of occuring in a 35-36 week old baby. But it does happen and I do know that babies at that age my have liver issues and this can lead to neurological problems but it is very small. At 37 to 38 the percentage of RDS and NEC is virtually the same statistical probability as a 40 week baby. So I am not sure why he wants another amniocentesis becasue at this point stillborn and placental abruption occurance is at a higher statistical rate than delivering at this point. Am I correct. I wanted to become a doctor and took embryology nutrition, physiology, anatomy, genetics galoure, endocrine physiology. An additional amnio at this point would tell you nothing a previous amnio didn't reveal. It would be nice to see how your labs (renal panel and blood count) are doing in light of the edema. An additional ultrasound to ease your fear of stillborn or placental issues may be a good idea. Fetal stress test is a good idea, if it is okay and your blood pressure is stable (even if it is on the high side but stable) then what's the rush? Every day the baby is inside gives it a much better chance on the outside of having a long and healthy life. God bless you and good luck with the little one. |
