Has anyone ever had a positive result come back on their AFP blood test? |
When the results came back the dr. said there was an elevation in the blood that may or may not indicate Down Syndrome and sent her for a more detailed ultrasound. I don't know if the ultrasound included checking the nuchal fold. The ultrasound lasted for about 20 minutes and after the doctor viewed it, he said everything looked normal, but the only way to be sure was to have an amniocentesis, which she declined. The Dr. didn't enforce this or insist she have the test or push the issue with her. I'm wondering if anyone has gone through this exact same scenario and what the outcome was. I have never been through this but I believe she should be ok. If it was me I would get the amnio just so if there was something wrong with my child I would be able to prepare myself for it. Mentally and Knowledge wise. I would love and adore my child no matter how it comes in to this earth but, I want to be able to give it the best care possible. So that would mean knowing if it is going to need anything special when it gets here. |
