Ambien/nausea/intestinal obstruction?

A year ago, I had an appendectomy, followed by post-surgical problems. I wound up with a really bad infection in my abdomen. I also had two intestinal obstructions within a week due to scar tissue around my intestines. I was in the hospital 5 times within 3 months for whatever issues. I haven't had any problems since February . The doctor told me that because you can't fix scar tissue problems, that obstructions could happen again.
On a different note, I began taking Ambien a couple weeks ago for insomnia. It really screwed me up...I'd act strange on it, amnesia etc. I decided to stop taking it. I haven't taken it since Monday night.
For the last few weeks, I've also had a sort of stomach ache and have felt full all the time. I have several early symptoms of another intestinal obstruction, but I wonder if feeling sick has anything to do with Ambien.
This is a strange situation, but if anyone has any information, I'd appreciate it.

I hate ambien...when I was on it, I would eat in my sleep, ungodly amounts of food apparently, and feel sick and full all the time until I figured out what was happening. Could be that you ate without knowing it also, so the obstruction theory would be something you should pay attention to.

my exBF is still addicted to ambien AND he became absuive for the 1st time while on it.

Maybe you should skip out on the Ambien and try a hydrocolonic?

I have had it and many celebrities do as well. Many prescriptions only ever cause complications which in turn need to be "cured" with another prescription of some sort.

most likely not linked to use of Ambien...you may be developing an abdominal adhesion or obstruction. No digestive symptoms listed for side effects of Ambien. But you are distended.....most likely a small bowel obstruction.

First I would go to the doctor and make sure you don't have cancer. If not try taking Bio-K you can get it at a health food store. Bio-K has over 50 billion of good bacteria...
I had diverticulitis and facing surgery if the 5 days in the hospital starving me didn't work. A friend told me about this and I have never had a problem since. I promise it's worth a try...

Ambian makes us all act strange, yet......... I continue to take it, the best thing is not to stay up after you take it go right to bed before you do stange...er things. Amnesia has become a way of life for me if I don't go right to bed, why, I've even asked questions with a lot of mispelled words and said goofy things on the internet with no recollection all because of ambian. It's worse if you have a night cap with it. Cheers

I'd doubt the stomach issue has anything to do with ambien. I take it all the time and have never had any issue other than dehydration and as you said...amnesia. However, I have found that the memories can be brought back if you were with someone (I was always with my husband) when you took it and they can remind you of what you said/did.

The "worry' about the Intestinal obstruction and that it "MIGHT" come back again..really worries you, doesnt it?.
The scar tissue ISSUE is also causing you worry..This "worry" can be termed in another word >>FEAR.
I feel sure that your Doctor surely must have discussed with you the concern about the Anxiety issue..Perhaps Xanax was prescribed for you..but the Insomnia persisted..the stomach problem persisted..the "strange" acting as you say..came.
You might be feeling that any Anxiety medication is not working, and so when the "OTHER" feelings came as you have described..you sought other Advice..other medications.
You were or are, at a point, where you were or are willing to try 'anything' ? TO get Relief. !!
Be very careful in trying "some" types of so called medications and/or advice that is NOT medically founded.
The Medications for Insomnia may also be interacting with any Anxiety medication, causing yet, another unpleasant feeling/s.
