Could I have Post-Pill Amenorrhea? |
I had a baby by c-section 7 months ago and went on birth control pills at my 6 week checkup which was in December.I continued the pills for only 3 months because I was having periods every other week.I stopped the pills in Feb, had my period once I stopped the pills and had a regular period in March.I have not had another one since.I have always been regular with my periods,so this has caught me off guard.I am not pregnant,I've tested 3 times to make sure.I was doing research and read about post-pill amenorrhea and think that this is what it could be.Although all the other people that I read about had been on birth control for at least 2 years.Could I still have it even though I was only on the pill for 3 months? Not breast-feeding.Pills were not right for me but my Husband has switched jobs since and waiting for new insurance to kick in so i can get in to see the doctor. It sounds like you have a serious hormone imbalance of some sort, and it will take the gyn to sort it out and treat it. You could be experiencing post pill amenorrhea. It doesn't sound as if the pill you were on had enough to control or override your own hormonal cycle, though definitely enough to upset it. Following a pregnancy, your body's ordinary cycle is disrupted for a few months, also depending on if you nursed the baby or not. Even nursing for a short time is enough to disrupt it, and if you are still nursing or have just recently stopped, that would also affect it. You really need to return to your gyn for an exam and treatment. Are you breast-feeding your child? It is odd for you to continue to have such frequent menses while taking the pill. Sounds as if you have a hormone imbalance that needs to be corrected. Yes it is possible. Your body's hormones are fluctuating and trying to get back to normal. Don't worry, it's happened to me too and I was only taking the pill for 3 weeks. offcourse yes everybody is different. i have known alot of women that have had all kinds of problems after stopping the pill and after taking it for short periods of time . this has also happened to me, i quit the pill for the same reason you did and then i didn't get a period for something like six months and then i finally got my period and it kept going on for 3 months ! iv'e known others that this has happened to as well. finally i went to an ob/gyn and he gave me a low dose birth control pill to regulate my periods . all i can say is go to your ob/gyn and get checked. i hope everything works out for you. congrats on your new baby!!!! |
