Is there a cure for Secondary Amenorrhea?

I'm 15 and I haven't had my period in 14 months. I went to the doctor but my mom let me get Birth Control. Is there anything I can do to get my period back naturally?

Secondary to what? If it's secondary, then it's caused by another condition - You will probably have to resolve the primary problem before your period will be normal.

In my opinion, at your age, I'd rather not have my period.
That's just me- 20 years later. I had really sketchy periods in my early teens - I'd go 40 days then 15 days then a normal 28 day cycle - I know the stress of worrying about when or if your period is going to come is tough - especially when you've got "life" to worry about.

What's your mom's objection to birth control? Does she think you're going to have sex? Is she worried about the side effects? I think 15 is pretty young for BC, but if it would help regulate your periods, then it seems like your doctor might recommend it.

I hope you feel well soon.

Did your doctor do blood work to rule out causes such as adrenal and/or thyroid malfunction? Also, estrogen defficiency or pituitary problems will lead to secondary amenorrhea (which is the absense of periods after having had them as opposed to primary amenorrhea which is having never had one). here is an interesting short-descriptive site of causes:

Good luck and get your blood work done!
