How to get your period back? Secondary amenorrhea? |
I havent had my period since May 2007, and I went to my doctor and she said it was because my BMI was 16.9. She put me on a protein drink and made me eat heaps more, and guess what - its been four months and I haven't put on anything, nor has my period came. I know I eat healthy and I accept that I am a naturally skinny person, but how do I get my period back? Time my friend you body needs to get used to being fed. Also you could try the birth control pill..it generally works. But really dont stress about it and give your body time.I lost my period 4 over 2 years due to shock(from accident )and from an eating disorder. They will come back...but time is the key....if you are still worried chat to you doctor perhaps there are tests that need to be taken just to make sure everything is a ok i have the same probblem and i have got my period like 4 times then it went away and have bean on the protean thing for a whyle know but it still has not came back for me eather thou and i sortove sucks and stuff but ya . well good luck Why do you want it back...i can see if you are worried about not being able to get pregant but seriously why would you want a period? Can't they give you some hormone theropy i know for me i needed hormone theropy because mine was so heavy the needed to slow it down so you would think that they have something to do the oppisite and give you somethin to bring it on. SOrry i was much help but yeah why would you want it back? I would so be enjoying it..unless yeah it is for pregnancy reasons I think you should do body exercises and have protein food and always keep smiling and be active and have sexual feelings whenever you have with your life partner. I think this may worked out little bit. But being a guy, i may not be knowing your body problems. You won't get it back until you have the BMI to support one. That means you will have to gain some weight, specifically you need some fat on your bones. You may eat healthy, but not enough. Without sufficient fat reserves, your body can't support a pregnancy, so it supresses ovulation to prevent that happening. And four months may not have been enough time for your body to recover enough to run a normal hormonal cycle. But from the sounds of things, the situation hasn't changed in favor of that, and until it does you just aren't going to have a period. Your only real option is to gain weight, and achieve a BMI of closer to 18.5 or higher. Once you achieve that, your periods should show up again. Why would you want your period...???? Are you on the pill? If you are, stop and listen for a sec. I've been hearing, and have experienced many problems with hormonal bc methods, I'm 50, so I've heard a lot. Some will suggest birth control pills to make your period more regular. I know this is not your question, but I want to share something, as I've seen women getting their lives messed up forever when using hormonal bc. When I was choosing a bc method, I researched them all. What I came up with was the diaphragm. It works without hormones so you don't end up with little Natzi hormones overthrowing your natural hormones, and your body can do it's job. It's like a female condom, you can't feel or see it and neither can he. You put a little spermicide on the rim, which seals it and kills any trouble makers. If you follow directions as to how to use it and do so exactly, it's as effective as the pill, on the pregnancy part, perhaps better. The doctor will fit you to get the right size and to show you how to put it in and remove it. It's easier than to remember to take a pill everyday when you鈥檙e not gonna have sex everyday. You just have to remember it when you鈥檙e going to have sex. If you forget it, of course it doesn鈥檛 work at all. If periods are an issue regarding sex, it won't be anymore. The diaphragm holds the blood over night. It was my favorite bc method. However like the pill, it doesn't protect against std's, or the possibility of getting a disease that will kill you. |
