What is the name of the condition where a female may not ovulate every month?

I had amenorrhea (absence of menstruation for a few months) a couple of years ago, and the nurse practitioner told me that my blood test showed that I had "Preovarian ____". Does anyone know what it is called??

I was given Provera to get my period back. I'm also currently on the birth control pill to keep my periods regular. Since I get my periods regulary now due to the pill, does that mean that I no longer have that preovarian condition?

my doctor says its annovulation where you dont ovulate each month. i had amenorrhea and then menegorrhea (where it doesnt stop) and its sometimes caused by PCOS which is poly cystic ovarian syndrome. If thats not what your talking about, try callin the doc back! Good luck :)

Premature Ovarian Failure (POF) or a premature menopause?

An anovulatory cycle is a menstrual cycle characterized by varying degrees of menstrual intervals and the absence of ovulation and a luteal phase. In the absence of ovulation, there will be infertility.

A physician needs to investigate the cause of anovulation. Common causes are:

Polycystic ovary syndrome
Hypothalamic dysfunction
Premenopause
Ovulatory dysfunction
Thyroid disorders
Hyperprolactinemia
