Diseases of Aging
Disease of Aging

The most common diseases of the elderly:

Coronary heart disease: It accounts for one third of U.S. deaths among those aged 65-74 and 44 percent of deaths in those 85 and older.

Cancer: People over 65 are 10 times more likely to develop cancer than those under 65, thanks to a weakened immune system and longer exposures to cancer causing toxins.

Alzheimer's Disease (AD): The older the person, the greater the chance of getting it. AD patients live two to 20 years; the average is only eight years.

Strokes: After age 50, the rate of strokes doubles with each 10 years of age. The major risk factor is high blood pressure.

Arthritis: Primarily a disease of older people, there is no known cure.

Osteoporosis (bone loss that leads to fractures, loss in height, and "dowager's hump"): It affects nearly one in four women over age 60 and almost half of women over age 75.

A healthy lifestyle can prevent many of these diseases. Once they develop, there is no cure. Many older people take lifelong medication to alleviate symptoms. Animals sometimes take the same medications.

high cholesterol levels, menopousal deranges, loss of hair, loss of retensive memory,

DEATH

I'l answer your question clinically.

Diseases vary from individuals due to so many factors such as:
body BMI index (slim, fat or obess)
sex ( male / female)
health history (accidented / Life STC patients e.t.c )
clinical examination profiles ( hypertensive / psychoneural ...)
type/nature of work when young
present age
hereditary factors
social background
race and so on.

In order to be more specific, we shall consider some ultimate clinical profiles for old people between the age of (60 & 120)

Lipid & Cardial diseases
high tryglyceride levels eg. 160mg/dl
high cholesterol levels eg. 262mg/dl
high LDL cholseterol levels eg. 186mg/dl
High Myocardial infarction risk eg. 16.1%

Immunity
Of all immunity related diseases such as HIV1/ HIV2, Hepatitis B, PPR Syphilis etc. none of them is disease due to old age but
Low C-reactive protein levels eg. <9mg/l

Pancreatic / Diabetic diseases
high glucose level eg 120mg/dl ---- which means diabetic
pancreatic amylase level: anything above 53.0iu/l

Renal diseases
high/low Urea composition ( normal = 10-50) mg/dl
high creatinine levels (normal = 0.4 - 1.1)mg/dl
high uric acid eg. above 7.0mg/dl

Liver diseases
low ALK phosphate indicator eg below 40 for male & 35 for nmale
high levels SGPT (ALT) eg. above 40iu/l

All these changes in body hormonal levels are basic causes of other physical diseases such as:
parkinson diseases - body & hands shaking contnuosly
loss of hair
intense heat and sweat during the night
loss of sleep
bed wetting, bed soiling
reduced retensive memory
irrational responses to reflex actions
etc.
Naturally you would want any of ur old man/woman to do a comprehensive clinical analysis of some of the factors I mentioned above, then u'll be sure to know what diseases are present.
and seek further clinical advise.
