With in-home care, how long should you place an elderly person on the toilet?

Elderly female with alzheimer's, difficulty walking, is incontinent

Try to keep them on a schedule and leave them until they go, but only what they can tolerate. There are times they may not be able to have a bowel movement, but usually they will urinate. Be calm with them and if you can leave them safely they may ask to be alone. If they are not allowed to be alone, stay and do not bother them for a few minutes. They may need to relax to go.

Until she goes.

until they are done...

ask the visiting nurse for help and guidance. You will need to put her in diapers also - you can't let her sit on the toitee forever.

sit them on the pot for bout ten minutes, let the water in the sink run, if they go they go....if she doesn.t....welll......she's incontinent.....
