For any reason can a sheet you're lying under cause your skin to ripe off? |
my aunt has alzheimer and she's in her last stages she has cancer and because of how skinny she has gotten the docs says the wombs she gets come from the sheets Yes this is called shearing. When they move her on the bed they need to either lift her entire body with a sheet or be sure her body come off the bed when they turn her, The friction from the sheets is tearing aka shearing her skin. Also if she is in bed a lot she needs to be on a pressure relieving mattress and turned at least every 2 hours if not more often when she is in bed. Her skin needs to be lotioned each time she is turned and kept dry if she is incontinent. When she is up in a chair if she cannot reposition herself then again she needs to be repositioned at least every 2 hours. Because she is ill and thin she should be getting something like boost or ensure to drink as often as she will take it. It's not necessarily from the sheets alone. Bedsores are caused by pressure on the same areas of the body for long periods of time. |
