My old man is driving me crazy?

he has some type of memory problem, alzheimers? who knows there's no test but he tells the folks at the VA he's fine then he comes home , doesn't know what's going on, can't remember anything I tell him, thinks I'M the one who's crazy and I'm tired of it all, I don't need any answes linking me to alzheimer's info, i've got it all. Don't feel sorry for him, either, I've exercised all the patience me and a lot of other ppl have. he's sick and won't admit it! I'm tired of messing around (tried other solutions for over a year)\
any ideas? and don't give me crap. I need real solutions here

well i think if your problems are that he can't remember what you tell him.. Get him a note pad. it could be something else besides alzheimers. when you tell him something write it down for him.
honestly it may not really be his fault.. him not admitting to it is not good, but you may have to compromise with him until he does.
Does he sleep good. That would have an effect on his memory. Your brain needs sleep so if he is not getting into his R.E.M. sleep state he could seem like he is getting 8 hrs but really he's not. Check that out. He could have sleep apnea.
My husband is only 42 but has had memory problems for a long time. He slept alot and at any time. But he wasn't getting to his R.E.M. sleep do to breathing problems. Turns out he has Narcolepsy. A mild case but enough his doc said if he didn't use everything he gave him to use to help him out then she would not allow him to drive or work. He has gotten better as far as his memory goes and he gets good sleep now. He has some meds to take during the day and sleeps with a breathing machine at night. His dad has the same thing but worse and refuses to go to the doc for it. Hard Headedness syndrome. LOL

ibuprofen - one a day - is known to way off alzheimers - just in case that is what he has symptoms of.

But if you get him a note pad and write down what you say then when he says you didn't tell him and doesn't remember then you can show him that you did. That will help him see that he does have an issue to deal with.

Hope This Helps.
Lots of Luck.

have a long private respekful talk with him.. i just farted and my dad walked in. that should keep him afar.

See a psychiatrist Honey & ask him to evaluate him
Remember the vow you took when you married him"Insickness & in health "I believe when you were in that that white wedding Gown in front of 200+ people (Wittnesses) you meant every word of it Go do the right thing
Or call Dr laura & tell her I recommended her to you

You may need to have a discussion with his doctor in regards to his memory problems. Does sound like alzheimers, I very sorry it has to be so hard for you and your family. He needs medical attention. Alzheimer patients can forget who they are or where they are and wander off, or get in to dangerous situations. Please seek help and have patience I know it is hard, but imagine how much patience it took to raise children. Looks like it is your turn to take care of him.

Good Luck and God Bless!!

Welcome to the world of dealing with "old folks". You need to take him to a doctor and have him checked for dementia. Evidently that is what he is getting. It will only get worse. Eventually he will have to be put in a nursing home or some other care center. You have a job ahead of you and don't be afraid to take positive steps to protect your own health.

You need to visit a doctor, by yourself, and talk with him, tell him what is going on and ask him what you should do. Some old folks get aggravated as they get older because their lives are almost over and they imagine things like, people are doing something to them behind their backs and so forth.

You sound like you are fed up ver angry about this. Remember, "people don't make you upset or angry, YOU let them".

One more thing: Is he your father or husband? You gave no indication of which he is. Are you both old? Good luck. Pops

Talk to your family doctor. See if he thinks it would be a good idea to have him come in for a "Check up." Your doctor can access him without him knowing. Just make sure your doc knows what problems you're having with him first.
That's what I'd do as a last stitch effort.

well idk any solutions. sorry. but the reason why he isnt admitting might be because he can't remember that he can't remember?
