Soy a Poison? Shouldn't it be banned? Or, Warning Labels?

Thanks to a lot of vegetarian help sites, I started consuming a lot of soy (it is so pumped up), but my doctors now tell me to avoid it like the plague -- I have had nothing but health problems, and doing research on the internet I see mental-Alzheimer-like problems as well as thyroid and other ailments. I know many smokers, none of whom have ill health, but of the few people I have come to know who consume soy, two have had thyroid cancer, and others have had obesity, thyroid, mental-focus and other problems. Yet, soy is in virtually everything in one way or another. I guess my question is: why do sites/organizations advocating vegan/vegetarianism put so much emphasis on soy, when it seems to have a much greater health risk than meat...or tobacco? Shouldn't there be big huge warning labels stating the product contains soy, as they do with peanuts and other allergy-producing foodstuffs? And, what does one do for protein (I am deathly allergic to peanuts and seafood)?

Banned no...let's not get crazy here otherwise we'd be banning just about everything on earth, but warning labels, I do agree with.

After gaining a great deal of weight, and also have a friend who had thyroid cancer, I stopped the soy...and am so very happy I did. What "little" there is in breads, cake mixes, etc., shouldn't be a problem, but become a "label reader." I know, takes more time at the market, but certainly worth it.

Get protein from other beans (fava, chick peas, kidney beans) and from dairy (if you consume dairy). I, too, have a peanut allergy, but find I have no problem with almonds, pecans, and walnuts, and the fats in these nuts are good for you.

As for the sites/organizations you refer to...join me in writing them expressing your concern for pumping soy so much, as I too, think they are doing people a huge disservice.

I always heard soy was good for you.
