Fish Oil vs, Flax Seed Oil.?

I take Flax Seed Oil capsules daily to help with my Dry Eye Syndrome. I am 60. I have been told that Fish Oil capsules will help to offset Alzheimer's. Will One Oil Suffice for Both Issues?

Unless you are a vegan, fish oil is preferred.

This is because fish oil contains both omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

Flaxseed oil, on the other hand is high in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which needs to be converted by the body into EPA and DHA. It is still unclear whether the body can convert enough ALA to DHA and EPA to receive the maximum healthy benefits of these two long chain omega 3s.

So it's best to take fish oil if you had to chose one.

Recommended dosage would be 2-3 grams per day (2000-3000 milligrams total.)

Best of luck!

Fish oil will work for both issues. I've been using the fish oil for dry eye (I developed it in my early 30s). It helps but doesn't eliminate the problem for me.

Well, both are healthy, but common sense would dictate that since one is plant-derived and the other is animal-derived, they are two completely different things, therefore would serve different needs.

fish oil has some type of omega 3 that flax seed doesn't have. i remember reading it somewhere that flax seed oil is good for you but it doesn't have some of the beneficial aspects of fish oil. I'd take both just to be safe

Yes, my understanding is that either oil has the essential fat or good fat that your body needs, It is like a lubricant in your intestines so that the bad fats don't stick.. I don't know how your capsules are working but I found the flax seed oil worked better noticably for me.. I put 2 tablespoons on my oatmeal each day..
Good Luck

I would look to see how much dha is in both (that's what helps your brain). Also as I'm sure you know your antiperspirant could excel your rate to get Alzheimer's.
