Is a Dr. Alternative Medicine a good proffession?(Pay Wise?)?

Recently, i have decided to go into the medical field, so far ive looked at almost all medical fields, and so far the most interesting i believe are Internal Medicine,Pediatrics,Alternative Medicine and Psychiatry..

BUt thats off topic, what im asking is, is Alternative Medicine a great proffesion? and how is the pay like, i want to be one (its on top of my list, Next to Pediatrics and Psychiatry). I have found these careers VERY interesting, and just wanted to know what the pay is like, i believe 100grand+, can anyone give me a ball park for alternative medicine? i know the rest of the salaries from Forbes and stuff.

Alternative medicine is tricky because it's not recognized by the western culture. Patients will not get any coverage for the services you provide. for the most profit you'd have to serve rich people.

You won't get any backing from the medical community. Being an Alternative medicine Practioner is like being in business for yourself.

Generally, people get into to alternative medicine becaue they believe in it, not because of the money.

Please do not go into alternative medicine if you are doing it for the money. I'm a massage therapist, and I don't want greedy people associated with my field.

That said, I have no idea what it pays. There is definately money to be made, but alternative medicine is about HELPING PEOPLE not making money.

Acutally, going back to your paragraphs, please don't go anywhere near children either. That leaves the pill pushing field of Psychiatry. Have fun. The pharmaceutical companies will love you.

I'm sorry. It's just that people are more important than money. It drives me nuts that so many people are more interested in what they can make than who they can help.

Good for helping hurting patient not good for money and career choices.

It's not the same as being a doctor who goes to med school. There is no guarantee that you will even be able to get a job at all. The money depends on how much you can sell your services. Remember that part, if you are going to be a doctor of Alternative Medicine, you are getting a job in sales, not medicine.

I'm really sorry to hear so many negative opinions about your interest in this profession. It appears that these people are asking for a lot of advise here on answers, but have not considered the time and education that goes into alternative medicine. I will say this much though, the feeling of helping someone is more rewarding than the pay.
It's very inexpensive to study & learn alternative medicine. You are self employed and you do charge for visits and your patients do pay you cash. But check this; you know them as an individual, their needs and working with them to get them back onto a healthy path of life and life style. There is no limitations to helping them or their family members and you have the ability to schedule appointments and offer other alternatives in your practice.
Schooling starts right now by doing research of herbs, methods and forms of treatment, from teas to tinctures to exercise & proper diet. You can have a full staff of a nutrient's, a physical therapist, a message therapist and a staff to pack herbs/herbal treatments. You will counsel & work with each individual bettering the health of the community one person at a time.
Guess how I got started? I began looking up information and doing research on a family member who was battling with Eczema, then stomach problems, then insomnia and well...I think you get the picture. Your school starts right now.
If you would like additional information on becoming a herbalist and the other forms of study to become a alternative Naturopathic doctor, email me.
Best of luck in your endeavor. Keep in mind that the same people who are downing this profession are the very same ones that will call upon you for your help when they are unable to pay a large doctor bill, sick or feed up with doctors who don't really care if they live or die as long as insurance pays the bill or they are looking for a simple way to fix their health.
If you really are after the big bucks, 8 years of school minimum would have to be done in any of the ones you named in order to make the big bucks, and it does not always allow you to have a heart since they are all on production now.

I belive there is a huge scope for Alternative medicine. People are fed up from modern medicine. Moroever modern medicine doctors become full of ego, that they do not care. It is not their fault, they are empowered humans. Do you want to be one ? They heal sometimes but they want huge money for their services, Although Everyone wants it, but I guess an alternative medicine practitioner is more satisfied and happy, with healing.. it is their interest which bring them into alternative medicine and not the money... Money can be generated from any field.. Every field has its own scope... So money has nothing to do with profession.. the call girls make more money than the doctors I guess.. :)..
Many doctors who were having real interest in healing, became alternative medicine practitioners..so it is up to you... if you want money, you have to work hard and you can get money in any profession....
