Alternative Medicine Survey!!!?

I am completing a study on alternative medicines in the US and wanted to ask your experiences of alternative medicine. Please answer the survey below honestly. The data is anonymous of course.

1. Do you use alternative medical approaches to improve your health?

2. If yes to question 1, how did you become aware of this/these therapy/ies?

3. Was the therapy/ies you used effective? Explain

4. Have you experienced difficulties (i.e. access or economic) in using this/these therapy/ies?

5. Do you believe Alternative medicine will become more widely accepted and used in the future?

Thank you for your answers, it will help in a college study!

1. No, there is a lack of recources that are readily available to the majority.
5. Yes I believe more practices are opening up, but many people believe it to be a fad of some kind.

1.) No
5.) Yes, they seem to be gaining popularity

1. Do you use alternative medical approaches to improve your health? YES

2. If yes to question 1, how did you become aware of this/these therapy/ies? MY MOTHER, FRIENDS, MY OWN RESEARCH

3. Was the therapy/ies you used effective? Explain YES. I AM RIGHT NOW TAKING A NUMBER OF HERBAL SUPPLIMENTS FOR MY COLD AND ALSO GO TO THE CHIROPRACTOR. SO FAR, I'VE ONLY SEEN POSITIVE RESULTS. :)

4. Have you experienced difficulties (i.e. access or economic) in using this/these therapy/ies? WELL, THE MEDICINES ARE A LITTLE PRICY, AS ARE THE CHIROPRACTIC VISITS, BUT TO ME IT'S TOTALLY WORTH IT. I'VE NEVER BEEN HOSPITALIZED, AND RARELY GET VERY SICK, AND I BELIEVE IT'S PARTLY DUE TO HERBAL SUPPLIMENTS.

5. Do you believe Alternative medicine will become more widely accepted and used in the future? UMM...PROBABLY NOT. FOR INSTANCE, MY FATHER THINKS IT'S A BUNCH OF BULL, BUT I DON'T. I GUESS YOU JUST HAVE TO BE WILLING TO TAKE CHANCES AND PLACE YOUR FAITH IN SOMETHING YOU MIGHT NOT OTHERWISE.

PS Sorry if this wasn't what you were talking about, but I'm all for promoting herbal stuff as opposed to over-the-counter drugs which America has become "addicted" to.

1. Yes

2. I'm formally trained.

3. Best case--eczema. I developed a regimen that has kept me completely off steroids for 15 years.
Worst case--allergies. I tried homeopathy for allergies and saw absolutely no improvement at all.

4. There's a very real lack of good info out there.

5. Yes. I think "natural" comes and goes but mainstream medicine is fast becoming much too complicated for the "average" person to understand and they will turn to therapies they can comprehend and control for, especially, minor ailments.

I am a natural health consultant and a Mom who wanted safer alternatives for her family. I strongly believe in natural remedies and have known them to work. For more info see my website "Natural Herbal and Health Remedies"

1. Yes.
2. a. Through an interest in the 60's culture when I was
growing up (in the 70's)
b. Through natural childbirth classes
c. Through my religion
3. Yes.
I've used peppermint tea and charcoal for tummy troubles,
honey and lemon for sore throats and colds,
Tiger Balm Patches for sore muscles and back pain (all
natural ingredients),
and most dramatically, I avoided a dental visit I could
not afford recently- by using several natural remedies in
combination, for an abscessed tooth. They were: Lots of
raw cashews for most of my diet for a couple of days,
along with only natural food, echinacea drops in a small
glass of water for helping my immune system, oregano oil
in capsules once or twice a day for anti-viral, anti-bac-
terial and anti-inflammatory properties, and daily mouth
swishes with a few drops of tea tree oil in a small cup
of water. Coupled with prayer, plenty of rest and
distilled drinking water, my symptoms of pain, infection,
and swelling went away. Wow.
Also, I gave a couple of the younger people at my work
some homeopathic cold/flu tablets to take, which relieved
them of hacking coughs and sniffles when nothing else
would.
I really think a vegetarian diet helps me not to be sick
even when everyone around me is hacking and miserable.
Remember, food is medicine too.
I even used a natural remedy on my puppy! She came to me
with fleas and those disgusting worms they give dogs.
Well, ground up raw garlic and raw pumpkin seeds did the
trick.
4.No.
5.Yes!!

It looks like you have a lot of good answers already. All I'm going to say is I have use Valerian, Echinecea, and Marshmallow, quite often. Have used a few other things, like the ear wax candles. Did this thru my own research
at the library. I have had very good results, and will continue to use them. Doctors are becoming more receptive to herbal medications. However, they are not always familiar enough with them, to actually tell you to use them. I do think they are becoming more widely accepted with the general public
