What is the future of alternative medicine in this world 20 years from now? |
with the modern medicine in rapid progress, will alternative medicine be forgotten?will the alternative medicine be widely use and what in the technology needed to enchance it uses in the world? People are turning to "alternatives" because western medicine has failed them. That trend will continue (dump your pharmaceutical stock before 2010). Alternatives have survived the test of time. weed is Nanotechnology is a big thing in development. As well as gentetic engineering. There are going to be a lot of big changes in the next 20-50 years. Medicine is always advancing, "alternative" or otherwise. A better name for "alternative" medicine migh be "experimental". This kind of medicine will never be a thing of the past until humanity is no more, as something new will always come along. Doctors used to joke about using leeches for medicine, but now they are finding out that they are extremely useful in severe trauma cases because they assist in the blood flowing, and thus actually promote healing. Same thing with, believe it or not, maggots - they can get rid of the "garbage" in a very severe wound simply by eating it and leaving the healthy tissue behind, thus again promoting healing. If you really want an idea of what "alternative medicine" might be like in the future, the now cancelled show "Star Trek: Enterprise" has a "sick bay" (hospital or clinic on board a ship) that might be a very good example of some of the weird things that might be going on in medicine in our future. It isn't going to be forgotten - its just going to get weirder and weirder. It will improve because what doesn't work will be abandoned, but it may become so strange to what we think of now as medicine as to not be able to recognize it for what it is based on our current standards. Yes this is write alternative medicine are very much used in everey where in the world. "Alternative" medicine will always exist, but the subset of modalities and treatments that fall into this mix will continue to change. As time passes, and some things that are "alternative" today become more studied, many of them will pass into the abyss, however some of them will show real promise and be implemented into "mainstream" care. it will grow |
