What does ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE mean to you?!?

& what is your favorite ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE?

Alternative medicine is an excellent supplement to conventional medicine which you cannot dispense with.

You really need both.

Alternative medicine in general avoids those often dreadful side effects that you get from conventional medicine but alternative medicine often works much slower than conventional medicine and you might need several alternative medications for one problem.

Homeopathy

Alternative medicine means to me not using prescription medicine to cure an ailment, but instead to use supplements and diet. I'm not going to say never use prescription medications because there are times they are warranted. But, I always try alternative methods first.

#1 - I had extremely high cholesterol. Doctor wanted me on medication right away. I refused and told him I would be back in 1 1/2 months to retest my blood. Changed my diet and used supplements and when I retested my cholesterol levels were perfect! He was amazed!

#2 - Going through peri-menopause. I use bio-identical hormone cream and not HRT therapy. Works like a charm.

#3 - I use Organic Rosehip Seed Oil from New Zeland on my face every night instead of expensive facial creams. You wouldn't believe how young I look! Oh, and my 70 year old mother now uses it!

#4 - I began getting severe hives on my face and body. Doctor wanted to give me steroids. I refused. Researched and listened to my gut feeling about my body. Did a 30 day colonix and detox and I haven't had hives in over 1 year.

Now, my 8 year old son just came down with strep throat. Yes, I did put him on amoxicillan. But on top of the antibiotic I give him acidophilus to prevent the diarrhea from the antibiotics killing off the good intestinal flora. I also boost his vitamin C and include the echinacea.

Whenever I can I use alternative medicine. I haven't been to a doctor in over 2 years so I must be doing o.k.

It is a great feeling curing a problem yourself and avoiding doctors.

I was at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for some health problems when they discovered I had many sand-like stones in my gallbladder. The doctor recommended the removal of my gallbladder in the near future before it got worse. I told him that now was not time but may schedule it for my next visit 6 months later. During my 6 months, I heard of Dr. Clarke's liver cleans so I followed the directions. Before my next visit, I called my Mayo Clinic doctor and asked to have another ultrasound on the gallbladder to see if was worse than before. After taking my regular blood tests and the ultrasound, I met with him at the end of the day. He went through all of the results and said my gallbladder was normal/empty. He paused, looked at the previous results and said I had sand the last time I was here. " That's weird", he said. I laughed and said, "It worked." He asked me how I removed the stones but I did not tell him. I said, " alternative medicine and you'll have to pay me to give you the answer." I probably should have told him and open his mind, but it felt so good seeing him puzzled. By the way, my dad had kidney stones the first time he went to Mayo, and after following Dr. Clarke's kidney cleans (i think that's what it is called) the next visit to Mayo showed NOTHING!

What does it mean to me?

It means doing my best to avoid maintenance medications (high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.). This means nutrition and choice of lifestyle.

Even though I have never liked taking prescription medications, on occasions in my life, it was necessary. However, I do recall many times when I had to go back to the doctor to get another prescription because the original one gave me side effects.

That's how they get you. They treat one thing, which makes you go back to treat something else.

No thank you. I'll just do the best I can to stay healthy now - avoiding further pitfalls of society.

When we have to use the word "alternative" to describe the real health practices and knowledge that is finally being made known on a large scale. It means ,sadly, that the deadly medicine that has been the cause of a very large number of deaths in this country for a long time is still the main stream, and is still trying to keep real medicine squeezed out.
