What is the best anti-inflammatory alternative medicine?

nsaids are used for a range of conditions is there a safe alternative medicine .e.g. herbal etc

WATER. It is the best way of ridding your fluid retention problem.

I would hardly call it 'Alternative', but foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids are an excellent natural way of curbing inflammation.

Omega-3's will be found in foods such as fish, walnuts and flaxseed. Because it is difficult to find enough Omega-3's due to food processing and choices, supplementing your diet with Omega-3's in capsule form is a good idea.

Any health food store will be able to point you in the right direction. The specific Omega-3's that you are looking for on the label are called 'DHA' and 'EPA'. Remember that you get what you pay for, and higher priced Omega-3's typically have been filtered to a higher quality.

It may take a few days to a few weeks, but the changes in your system will be unmistakeable.

Happy healing.

Salt. For tonsillitis example- Salt and hot water mixture is gargled, am and pm. (upon waking up and before sleeping). Salt is rubbed in itchy places of the affected skin. No wonder wounds heal faster when you go for a swim in the beach,
What;s the part inflamed?

Most natural products won't say if they are anti-inflammatory or not because inflammation is considered a medical condition, and no supplement can make any medical claims on it's own.

That being said, I know that fish oil (and most general Omega 3 oils) does have some calming effects on tissues (as do many things for general skin health, but fish oil does the most for skin) and MSM has good benefits for joint comfort and mobility (which is a calming effect). That's about the closest that any natural supplement can get to claiming anything about inflammation.

I take a natural juice called Monavie. It is said to be one of the best anti-inflammatories out there. I can't say what it does, but I can tell you that it works for me.

I did some research and here is what I found.

Essential fatty acids (EFAs) which form the basis of the body's hormone-like pro-inflammatory effects. The omega-6s are found in most cooking oils, such as corn, safflower, peanut, and soy oils, and processed foods made from them.

Vitamin E. The body's principal fat-soluble antioxidant is also an anti-inflammatory nutrient.

Flavonoids. Antioxidant flavonoids, found in fruits and vegetables, are among nature's best anti inflammatory nutrients.

Certain herbs - including turmeric, rosemary and ginger have all shown to consist of natural anti inflammatory qualities. Similarly, many vitamins, including A and E can decrease the inflammation.

Inflammatory foods-
Junk foods, snack foods and fast processed foods make inflammation worse due to the unhealthy fats that are used in the cooking processes.

Red meat, eggs, and wheat products contain arachidonic acid which make your inflammation worse. Junk and processed foods often contain too much sugar too.

Excessive consumption of sugars and refined starchy carbohydrates also aggravate inflammation. Margarine, vegetable shortening and partially hydrogenated vegetable oils all promote inflammation.

Avoid refined and processed foods like pastas, white bread, white potatoes, crackers, chips, pastries, and sweetened drinks containing high fructose corn syrup.

Plants from the nightshade family like potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplant may actually make inflammation worse. These vegetables contain a chemical alkaloid called solanine which can trigger inflammation and therefore should be avoided.

Avoid tropical fruits such as bananas, pineapple, mango and papaya.

Food allergy involves the immune system and can make pain and inflammation much worse. Common food allergens are milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, fish and shellfish.

Anti-Inflammatory Foods-

Omega-3 essential fatty acids found in cold water oily fish, walnuts, flax and pumpkin seeds will help to reduce inflammation.

Olive oil has been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and help to reduce pain and inflammation.

Other healthy oils include canola oil, grapeseed oil, and walnut oil.

Lean protein include lean poultry, fish and seafood, nuts, beans, lentils, other legumes and seeds. Soybeans, tofu, and soy milk are great sources of soy proteins that may help to reduce your pain and inflammation.

Choose green leafy vegetables, bright colored vegetables and lots of fresh whole fruits. Berries are a great choice, especially blueberries and strawberries which are packed with anti-inflammatory phytochemicals and anti-oxidants.

Apples and red onions are great sources of quercetin, which has strong anti-inflammatory properties. Green vegetables and whole fruits are also important as sources of dietary fiber.

Hope this helped!
xx

I took turmeric for tendonosis in my wrist, and it worked but you have to consistently take it for about 2 weeks. Turmeric is found in the spice curry, the pills are a little on the expensive side so you may just be able to use a lot of curry when cooking.
