Is there any alternative medicine to cure Glaucoma?

I have Glaucoma-atrophy of optic nerve. In one eye 95% and in other &70%. Doctor said there is no cure, only applying drop solutons can restrict the progress of disease. Please suggest some alternative medicines like Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Accupressure points, Yoga etc. etc. Please help

Smoking weed helps ALOT!

There is no alternative medicine and no cure for glaucoma.

I doubt if the nerve atrophy can be reversed, but the fluid pressure buildup can be controlled.Search out nutritional information.

This is an asnwer you may not want to hear, depending on what your views are. But you must have an open mind when you are plauged with a health issue. Smoking pot has been proven to help glaucoma and reduce the annoying side affects of it. My aunt has glaucoma, has had it for years and when I told her about this she was shocked at first, which I'm sure any 65 year old woman would, but after some deliberation she decided to try it. The best pot to smoke for glaucoma would be a highly potent strand and the best way to smoke it is in a vaporizor as it doesn't harm your lungs and even the pores in your eyes can obsorb the drug. If you have no problem taking any other drug for you Glaucoma, you should have no problem taking this one. That is simply what it is, and it's here to help you!
If you can't get a vaporizor, as it is very expensive, try looking up ways to make your own Ice Bong, it's MUCH less harsh on your lungs and you will be able to take in more and feel like you are taking in less. You don't need a lot and my aunt swears by it! She says it has helped her suffering eyes almost 100%. Good luck!

try GANODERMA.

yes, but no, because you use "Cure" it's a wrong word to ask.

Friend I'm a Glaucoma patient too. I'm using eye drops to control my intra_ocular pressure. Alternatively, I'm using homeopathy also. The name of the medicines are R-78 and Euphrasia.

R-78: take 10 drops daily early in the morning.

Euphrasia: take 6 pills daily at any time in the day but half an hour before eating.

Friend these medicines are really good.(Even if they do not show any progress for you, they will atleast provide much more strength to ur eyes.No side effects.R-78 can be used by anybody)
Coming to Yoga I prefer "Adi Mudra" in "Padmasana" along with "Pranayama". This really works.

I believe the theory about the pot is true in some states it is legal but used under a different name try it u will like it

Treatments -
1.Coleus:Direct application of an ophthalmic preparation of forskolin - Forskolin, a chemical found in coleus- to the eyes lowers eye pressure, thus reducing the risk of glaucoma.

Direct application of the whole herb to the eyes has not been studied and is not recommended.

Dosage - Coleus extracts standardized to 10 to 18% forskolin are available. While some doctors expert in herbal medicine recommend 50-100mg two to three times per day of standardized coleus extract, these amounts are extrapolations and have yet to be confirmed by direct clinical research. Most studies have used injected forskolin, so it is unclear if oral ingestion of coleus extracts will provide similar benefits in the amounts recommended above. Until ophthalmic preparations of coleus or forskolin are available, people with glaucoma should consult with a skilled healthcare practitioner to obtain a sterile fluid extract for use in the eyes.

2. Caffeine/Coffee Avoidance - A single dose of caffeinated coffee (but not decaffeinated coffee) can increase intraocular pressure in persons with glaucoma.

3.It is most important for those having been diagnosed with glaucoma of any sort to use any medication that they are given by an ophthalmologist as directed. Medicated eye drops, which work by increasing drainage of aqueous fluid or reducing its production, can usually control chronic glaucoma.

4. Alpha Lipoic Acid: 150mg per day improves visual function in people with both stage I and stage II glaucoma.

5. Surgery: In all forms of glaucoma, if the pressure cannot be controlled with medicines and eye drops, or if the side-effects are unacceptable, the drainage from the front part of the eye can be increased surgically. This can be done either by using a laser to create a hole in the iris or by using microsurgery to cut out part of the iris. Usually both eyes are treated.

My Dad has it too.

Here's something I ran across that I found interesting and worth more investigation but I haven't done it....Iodine.

GOOD LUCK! :)

There is probably no cure but you can certainly slow down any further deterioration if you can reduce the pressure in your eyes.

A Yahoo search for coleus + glaucoma will tell you all about it.
