Pain in lower abdomen (left side)?

I am 23/female. It hurts off/on through out the day. I went to the doctor one week ago and she said to take Cipro for two weeks. Call her back after two weeks to let her know if it's better. I filled the rx for Cipro, but after reading the side effects and reading about Cipro online I decided not to use it. I called the doctor and got the nurse and I asked for another antibiotic, but they said Cipro is the only medicine and they don't have an alternative (find that hard to believe). Well, it has been one week and I'm still in pain. It hurts sometimes when I sit or walk. No problems urinating or with BM. Nothing out of the ordinary, just pain. I want to call the doc, but she will probably say wait another week. When I first saw her she said I probably have diverticulosis, but if after two weeks and still pain, she will look into it further (she mentioned it could be something like an ovarian cyst). Ugh, i'm just annoyed they aren't doing anything.

I agree it could be a cyst. If they aren't moving toward a more definitive cause I'd consult another doctor. It sounds as if your current one is putting you off.

it could also be your gall bladder (gall stones) or your appendix. you are the patient - you should INSIST on better care. otherwise, you'll just be going to the emergency room.

Or find another Dr. who will treat you better.

Have these investigations done: -

Stool for OPC.
USG lower abdomen.

N.B. - I am sorry i could not agree with Cara M. Appendix and gall bladder both are right sided organs and their pain is chiefly concentrated either over right upper part of the abdomen or right lower part of the abdomen (a point little bit to the right lower side of the navel known as Mc Burney's point- in case of appendicitis)

Pl. go for an ct-scan 2 know exact cause. Meanwhile C some good homoeopath. These sweet pills sometimes do wonders & can cure even cancer.
