Insomnia way out of control. I rely on micro sleeps. Seen a Psychologist for sleep hygiene.?

I have been an insomniac for years. Often relying on otc medicines. I am a shift worker. Even when I am not working I suffer with nil sleep, often going for 3days perhaps with a micro sleep.
One thought that I will not sleep and that is it. I have been taking many alternative meds and have adopted sleep hygiene methods including exercise no stimuli or caffeine. Often without success, I am afraid that I will make a mistake at work due to exhaustion. I am responsible for other peoples well being. Any suggestions?

Honesty i suggest seeing a phsyciatrist... i suffer from lack of sleep also, but i know for me if i dont take sumthing i would lay awake thinking of everything in the world stressed out of my mind. Seeing a shrink may be able to identify sum underlying thing that keeps you from sleep.. like maybe sumthing that happened in your past or sumthing..

I have been trying to figure out this same thing. I HAVE to take something to go to sleep. If I don't I will lay there all night awake. I wish I could have helped you out on this one.

I feel your pain...I have the same issue. I am taking Mellodyn. It is working pretty well, before that I relied on Tylenol PM and Unisom. Try also the Unisom Sleep Tabs...not gels, the tabs....stronger ingredient. Hope this helps!

Hi Alison,

Your best bet would be to check out

http://usefulresources.info/natural-slee...

All natural and helps tremendously. This is the best and most effective natural cure I've come across so far. You'll sleep like a baby!

Hope that helps.

All the best,
Melinda
