Doctor or dentist?

I am a senior in high school. My parents are asian and want me to become anything that earns lots of money, preferably in medicine. I'm considering being either a doctor or a dentist, but i'm not sure which. what are the pros and cons of each? and are there other alternatives you would suggest? (nothing to do with math)

Im a newly graduated dentist. Here is my opinion:

Dental school is between 4 and 5 years..
Dental Speciality (optionnal) will be between 3 and 7 years
Dental school tuition fees: 20k to 50k per year
Dental material needed cost: 30k

Medical school is 4-5 years
Medical speciality (required) will be between 3 and 7 years
Medical school tuition fee: a lot less.. dont have a number

During dental school, you have NO LIFE.. no kidding.. you will have to study but also to do a lot of lab work... your life is over for 4-5 years... YOU HAVE TO BADLY WANT TO BECOME DENTIST, else you wont make it.. There was a guy pushed by his asian parents in my class.. after 3 years, he did quit.

The work:
As a general dentist you can do everything in dentistry.. A general physician cant do much other than diagnosis/referal/prescription. Speciality is easier to get in in medecine, because there is a lot more places for students.

I would strongly recomand you to find something that really appeal you first and think about money after.

honey anything medical is math - most likely dentists would require less math and less schooling.

I have cousins and uncles who are doctors, they seemed stressed sometimes and they have to deal with sooo many liability issues... and the fact that it is very sad when your patients become very sick or die.

My one cousin is a cosmetic orthodontist though... he just puts on braces... really, that's all he does. He makes soooo much money. He has a house with an indoor pool and everything... If I were you, I would go with that.

Damn it I have Asian parents too, and I say go with something YOU LIKE. Trust me, you're life will be miserable if you do something that you don't like for the rest of your life.

Dentist= school is faster than medicine
Medicine= very long

So you see, you have to be very committed if you go for Medicine

do what u want 2 do... u can make alot of $$$ in ANY career if ur good at it.... have u considered being a lawyer or anything? they make alot of money...trust me=]

Depends on you as a person... What you want out of life, and all of that. What kind of Doctor would you want to be? there are many different types.

you should go with something you like and if you want to be a doctor make sure you have the stomach for it i know i dont lol and if you want to be a dentist make sure you have a steady hand and can do that sort of thing

and they both probably involve math sorry
