i don't know where you live but my son HAD asthma. he took a regiment of natural remedies and his attacks were gone in 2 weeks. Yes there is and i just checked his medicine and it only says asthma. the doctor that we went to is in Albuquerque. His name is Dr. Mosses!

Asthma is not something anyone needs to live with by all means give him a call.

I'll try to find his number for you and check back...

Anybody that says that natural medicine isn't effective is ignorant an naive!!! All medicine originated from the earth natural medicine offers it in the truest form and is a lot more safe! homeopathy is the foundation of modern medicine and frankly they are doing a piss poor job of evolving it!

anybody that says pumping your kid full of caffeine, ephedrine, and even steroids is better than alternative medicine is just plain STUPID...

MY SON WAS CURRED, AFTER SPENDING 2 WEEKS IN ICU IN OKLAHOMA ON VACATION!!!

Steam.

one of the best things is the environment. The best place to live is Arizona I hear. Air purifiers. good luck

caffeine helps but it is not a long term problem solver. if the child has allergies try to limit their exposure to it.other wise alot of the prescription medicine available will help but it takes time for the body to adjust to it.

Since asthma is potential life threatening especially in children (they have smaller airways and when those are restricted, as I am sure you know, the time factor to get those airways open is critical) I would be hesitant to rely on natural therapies unless suggested by your pediatrician. I have found in my practice, that even a hint of aromatherapy can irritate those little airways.

first, wall to wall carpet and central heating/air is bad for the dander and other alergens out there. wood burning stoves are bad during the winter. cold also can trigger asthma. if your child has stuffed animals, freeze them once a week in zip lock bags to kill the dust mites. also use a non alergenic cover over the mattress and wash the bedding regular. also use non alergenic pillows, if you can put them through the drier once a week too. follow the link below about avoiding indoor alergens that can trigger your child's asthma.

No. We had this problem with our son, and tried everything. From eating bee pollen (Yuck) to buying a dog. Nothing worked. The only breakthrough we had was treating his allergies. This came about from a rash he developed, the doc said it was from a food allergy. They ran a battery of allergy test and perscribed shots. His allergies are clearing up nicely, over time, and his episodes of asthma have diminished greatly.
The shots are about as close to "natural" as you can get, they are a mild discomfort that our 8yr old tolerates well. Plus if they are perscribed frequently you can do them yourself if your doctor will mail the meds.
So, perhaps your best bet is finding out what triggers the asthma, then you know how to prevent/reduce the severeness of the episode.
Hope this helped, Don't give up.

Nutriferon has helped many children with asthma. If you would like more info, feel free to contact me.

There is a herbal remedy called Herbal Respiratory Complex that really works.Try that in conjunction with prescribed meds and soon you will notice that the attack diminishes. There are many illnesses that can be controlled with supplementation but you should never let go of prescribed meds all at once.Cal-mag is effective to combat allergies.Go to www.gnld.com

a few sips of coffee

Lobelia is supposed to work fairly well.

My son had asthma problems when he was small and had a Horrible reaction to the inhaling med the doc gave him. So whenever I would see it coming on, I would put him in a hot bathtub.....as hot as he could handle, anyway, drop in some eucalyptus oil and make him stay there and breathe deeply. Since he was young and figity, I would sit in there with him and read to him to keep him occupied. He's no longer on any of their horrible meds!! Good luck

Hi there. My suggestion may seem out of place, but since you're in the Alternative Medicine section, I figured that I would at least give you one more option you might not have considered before.

Has your child ever been to a chiropractor? Because chiropractic is founded in the belief that the Central Nervous System (which includes the brain, spinal cord, and nerves) controls EVERY bodily function. And if the vertebrae are misaligned (chiropractic calls this a subluxation), they can pinch the nerves that run out between them. This causes interference in the nerve impulses which can manifest as pain or any type of general malfunction to that nerve's corresponding body part.

I'm NOT saying that chiropractic is a definite cure for your child. I'm not even saying that the cause of his/her asthma stems from a chiropractic problem. I only wanted to give you another option.

Chiropractic is a safe, non-invasive healthcare option that doesn't involve drugs or any other type of experimental substance that could potentially have some negative side effects. Children usually respond very well to chiropractic care because they are young and are still growing (it's easier to correct a problem when you catch it early).

If you do decide to see a chiropractor, ask family and friends for recommendations, visit a few different offices, and pick the chiropractor that you are most comfortable with. You might even be able to find a DC that specializes in pediatrics near you. No matter what you decide to do, I sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

Natural alternatives are even less effective (if they have any efficacy at all) than regular asthma medications.

Some 'natural' bronchodilators are:
Caffeine
Epehdrine

Neither of which should be a substitute for your children's emergency inhalers. Ephedrine is also very dangerous (linked to strokes).

If your children are not responding as well to their current med then talk to their pediatrician. Don't risk their lives on the alternative medicine movement.

yes, my fren fed her asmathic hunza VPlus and he got better after that.
