Symptoms of alcoholism?

I know this guy, he is a very nice person, but he drinks every day, and lately well for a long time now, he drinks non stop, and wets the bed every night, or where ever he sleeps. is this the last stages of alcoholism? I tryed to look it up, and all it give me is recovery sites.

I don't think he is going to get any help. this is just what he does

there are not really any "last stages of alcoholism" -- the last stages could be well-defined as "whatever happens before an alcoholic stops drinking or dies"...

so if he happens to stop or die, then yes, these are the last stages of his alcoholism.

sucks, but that's just how it is.

he could very well go on like this for years. most of them are very nice. i bet he didn't think he'd end up like this when he was a young buck.

That sounds like the "right in the middle" stage of alcoholism. If he can't get through the day without alcohol, if he lies about how much he drinks, if he can't remember what happened three days ago (or even less), if he gets extremely hyper or shaky when he goes without a drink for even a short period of time, if he would rather drink than eat -- those are some of the symptoms he's definitely in trouble with the drinking.

this is not the last stages of alcoholism but yes those are some pretty significant symptoms it sound's like this person definetley needs some help other symptoms are drinking alone and driving but you said he drinks nonstop if this is tru he has a dependancy problem with alcohol and will need some type of treatment you will have to try to help this person but he will also need to help himself don't totally confront him cause he may get defensive but suggest it and call AA they have people who can help you help him too

Wetting the bed is not necessarily a symptom of Alcoholism (at least it's not listed as one in the DSM-IV), but it does show the lack of care he has towards himself which is a symptom. Basically, when people chose alcohol over normally important things in their life, or when they use their only money to buy alcohol over food etc, they most likely have Alcholism. My suggestion, talk to him and show that you care.
