If one is genetically disposed to alcoholism, are there any common related health problems?

If a person is the child of alcoholics and has shown symptoms of alcoholism, are there any other common problems he or she might also be at high risk for (e.g. clinical depression, anxiety, compulsions, physical ailments, particular risks for addictions)?

I recall reading about a study done several years ago that found that families who have a high rate of alcoholism also have a high rate of diabetes.

other than having the heightened risk of becoming a alcoholic, there are also the associated risks with alcohol, like liver problems. there might be risks of depression due to the predisposition.

I think it is.

American Indians are proof the genetic makeup can cause intolerance and alcholism....
There were actual laws made years ago that made it illegal
to sell indians alcohol.

I'm the child of an alcoholic and wonder the same things... my father drinks and is also depressed, I think. I know I can escape alcoholism but not sure about other things. Just keep a close eye on symptoms and seek help if needed. It seems people are more apt to seek out medical help today than in your parents' day.

Maybe some type of liver diseases.
