Is it possible to be bipolar AND have anxiety and depression?

I'm supposed to be bipolar, alcoholic, agoraphobic, and suffer from PTSD, according to my psychiatrist, but my psychologist only says I have anxiety and alcoholism, and my alcohol counselor says I seem to have the drinking under control.....and that if the psychiatrists' diagnosis was treated properly I may not feel like drinking. I agree. I am on MANY prescriptions which I take faithfully. My psychologist says I will never achieve mood stability as long as there is any alcohol in the picture. I drink once or twice a week, compared to 2-3 years ago when I drank every day around the clock, went through horrible withdrawals, didn't eat, etc.

If you are indeed Bipolar, then yes, anxiety and depression are normal parts of being bipolar. I agree you probably were using alcohol for self medication. Try not to drink at all, and take the drugs that your psychiatrist perscribes.

That is normal. That's what usually happens. Most people with Bipolar disorder suffer from depression as well.

Bipolar disorder is swing of moods from manic to depression. Alcohol intake, irregardless of measure and kind, is really contraindicated, if you are taking medicines. It will further aggravate your condition

The short answer to your question is yes,you can suffer with anxiety and depression as well as being bi-polar.Try to work with your psychologist, they have the tools to help you overcome these problems and anxiety are frequently by products of alchohol I hope this is of help.

yes, VA diagnosed me with ptsd, bi- polar, depression, anxiety and A social note- not anti- social but A social.
Loose the booze, read the labels

It sounds like there are too many cooks in the kitchen. Get them all together to talk about this stuff. At least once every few months, you should meet with all of them at the same time, and they should be discussing your care regularly.
