Really, can alcohol kill?

I've read that alcoholism is a debilitating disease.

Alcohol can kill you, or be a factor in your death, in several ways.

First - alcohol is a poison. Enough of it is toxic, and will kill you if you drink enough of it in a short enough time span.

Second, alcohol affects your judgment skills. You may do something while drunk that leads to your death, like driving a car, or picking a fight with someone bigger, stronger, and meaner than you.

Third, alcohol magnifies the effects of other drugs. If you drink and take some drugs at the same time, they will magnify the effect of each other, and intoxicate you more than just the sum amount of each of the drugs taken by itself.

Finally, alcohol damages internal organs. Long-term use can damage them enough to cause them to fail. Cirrhosis of the liver is just one example.

yes, it is mainly the predisposing factor for some disease... liver chirrosis which can lead you die, lung cancer also.. and lot more disease that alcohol contribute,.//

for answer:watch dr.g on discovery.she shows loads of cases of ppl who died from prolonged use of alcohol.it causes liver cyrosis.and it slows the process of new brain cells emerging.

Yes. It can tear you up on the inside. Besides making you dependent on it, it causes liver disease and a host of other problems. Yes, some people do drink themselves to death. It is not pretty.

Have u read or are u an alcoholic? Sorry if i sounded rude.

It's true alcohol can kill. It directly acts on your liver. It reduces the synthesis of liver enzymes.Makes u feel dehydrated all the time.Makes you weaker. Your immune system wont respond like the usual. It affects your digestive system(stomach and intestines) and causes many diseases like liver cirrhosis (degenerating condition of the liver where the liver cells get necrosed and eventually lead to death), Mallory-wiess syndrome (disease of the oesophagous nd stomach where in the person after consuming alcohol vomits blood when he tries to have his meal). It can also cause liver cancer and causes acute or chronic pancreatitis in long standing cases of alcoholism. It affects your metabolism, enzyme synthesis, amino acid synthesis and over all effects your body.
Most important it causes thiamine deficiency. It also effects the brain causing wernick's encephalopathy.

Alcoholism is the one major concerns in modern day world due to the number of deaths it causes.People who drink ethyl alcohol might be affected a little later but people on methyl alcohol are instantly effected.

Alcohol if taken daily like (red wine a 90 ml) could actually prevent coronary heart disease.

Do not abuse alcohol cos it would abuse your body.

Yes
Like it or not it can kill
Alcoholism is a risk factor for many diseases.
in long time it can cause Alcoholic fatty liver and finally cirrhosis
and the patient will need liver transplantation

Yes alcohol is a very debilitating disease, it effects your liver,as well as other organs in a body. Not to say the mental anguish it causes for the drinker and those close/around the person. Also effects the brain.
