Is anybody here a member of alcoholics anonymous?

or is anybody suffering from alcoholism- please be serious and honest

No! but i think there are a few on this site that should be...

as this site is anonymous then i guess its ok to say that i am

nope, im too young for alcohol.

I am a member of AA and have been sober for 5 and a half years. You sound like you need some help .

my ex parnter died form alcohol missuse not a nice illness to have

Was and don't go to meeting anymore but am ever so glad I did. Changed my life forever. I'm a recovering alcholic of 22 years.

Hi there, it may surprise you the number of answers who are alcoholics. I say are because they will all admit you do not get cured you just don't drink today. I was a go between at work for a programme to help alcoholics and drug abusers. The welfare dept would contact me where they suspected a problem and I would approach the individual in private to offer counselling. It was by far the most effective method as an abuser can be prepared to lose his family, home and friends but needs a wage to feed the addiction. We estimated that over 10% of our work force of 5000+ had a problem. Well done all those who are sober and good luck.

used to be but except for the occassional lapse {3 in 15yrs} have been mostly sober

I *WAS* an alcoholic.

I tried AA and repeatedly got worse, for almost 20 years. They convinced me I was powerless, that I had a disease, and that only they could help me by finding their God.

Finally took responsibility for my addiction and my recovery in 2001, got help for the depression that kept me drinking, and have been sober ever since.

Since then my life has turned around, I got married, have worked with people with substance abuse and mental health issues, now working in the mental health field.
