Anybody have advice for pancreatitus? |
last year, actually december of 05, i was rushed to the emergency room with stomach pains. i was diagnosed with pancreatitus. i got it from drinking. they told me my liver and kidneys were failing and my pancreas burst into my pelvis. they said the amount of alcohol i drank was crazy. by the way, i am only 27 years old. i was given a 50% chance to survive 3 days in the hospital and when i did make it, they told me i had a year and a half to live unless i changed my lifestyle. well, i quit drinking, its been 13 months, quit smoking, been 5 months, went on a strict diet and lost 90 pounds. i feel great. although i am starting to eat more lately and my stomach has been fine. what i want to know is how many people have this or know someone who has this. how has it affected there lives. and for the better? i know i am not the only one, but all the treatment classes i go to for alcoholism, i am the only one who had this happen. i would like to know others stories. thank you go to webmd.com and search for pancreas I worked for a company where the National Sales Manager wasn't happy unless he closed the bar. He died of pancreatic cancer. No you are certainly not alone. My dad had this - after he had it - he battled with diabetic type symptoms. i found out a fews months ago that i have a cyst on my byle diectsound it can cause cancer;so now they want to pretend cut the cyst off and cut my intestines and re do them..i;m 49yrs old in so so health.i am raising my 10yr old nephew's his mom and dad were killed 4yrs ago..i;m scared to death's this is a serious operationen my neiphew would lose it if i die...i don;t have anyone to watch him the surgeon said I'll be down 10 to 15;and 7of those in the hospital,,if this turns to cancer there is no cure'so i;m damned if i demand damned if i don;t.. i lost my mom to that superbug that she got in the hospital during minor surgery....I'm so scared and don;t know what to do....sorry i wrote so machaut it feels good to get out;;;;thanks Shelly,,,good-luck and hope yours turns out good for you also,,,, My best friend is 35 and has pancreatitis. Unfortunately, she will not stop drinking and I'm afraid this will eventually kill her. She has been in the hospital 4 times over the past year. It is common to see her with a glass in wine in one hand while she is throwing up over her kitchen sink. One of her "excuses" is that "it is so unfair, lots of people drink more than me and don't have this problem." I have sent her numerous links on info regarding this but she is stubborn. I will show her your question and show her it is possible to turn things around. You should be proud of yourself! Here's to a long, healthy life!! 2 pts |
